WOD-100x125The Fifth Annual Women of Distinction Empowerment Brunch held on June 9, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta hotel was a showcase in citizenship, service, and honor. Hosted by actor and comedian Jonathan Slocumb, guests were served up the tools to empower, enrich, and enlighten their lives and careers.

October is breast cancer awareness month. In the year 2012, you’d kind of have to be under a rock not to know that. But for my friend Susan Green who is a breast cancer survivor, I want people to know that October is not the only month that women all over the globe outlast this disease.

For three days and two nights, 100 chosen young women from in and around metropolitan Atlanta were privileged to sit at the feet of greatness while they engaged in food and conversation with the likes of Essence Editor at Large Mikki Taylor and Essence Editor in Chief Constance White.  Says White, “we have something to give that is valuable to our young women. A big goal is to make sure they understand that they are young, beautiful and amazing.”
